Load shedding means the suspension in the supply of electricity. At present it has become a great problem in our everyday life. It occurs mostly in the busy hours of the day. There are many causes behind it. The production of electricity is less than our demand. The number of industries and houses is increasing. But the production of electricity is not increasing. Besides, there are many illegal connections that make this problem acute. As a result of frequent load-shedding the farmers cannot irrigate their land properly. Anti social activities like mugging and robbery take place during the load shedding period. Students, patients in the hospitals and business men are the worst sufferers of load shedding. To solve this problem, we have to be conscious of the use of electricity. Illegal connections should be eradicated. Above all, more power stations should be established. Thus we can solve the problem of load shedding to a great extent.
A Moonlit Night
A moonlit night is a night when the moon shines brightly in the sky and batches the whole world with its light. In a moonlit night, the moon looks like a disk of silver. Sometimes it plays hide and seek behind the floating piece of clouds. The glittering stars twinkle around the moon. It seems that the sky has become a fairyland. Seeing such a sight, our eyes dazzles and our mind become soothed. A moonlit night adds to the beauty of nature. Various objects of nature seem to smile. A moonlit night has a great impact on human mind. It awakens a soft feeling in human mind. The poets feel a great attraction for the moon. The city dwellers hardly find any opportunity to enjoy a moonlit night. All the days of a month are alike to them. But the villagers enjoy a moonlit night very much. They often sit in the courtyard and spend time gossiping together. I have a sweet memory of a moonlit night. I went to my village home in autumn. The moon was in full. The fields with crops were glittering in the shine of the moon. I walked by the river side, I saw the reflection of moon in the river water. How charming it was! I could not forget such charming scenery.
Earthquake is a natural calamity. It means a sudden shaking of the surface of the earth. Bangladesh experiences earthquake almost every year. Now mild earthquake occurs in our country very frequently. Bangladesh has not experienced any major earthquake. So people of Bangladesh are not aware of the gravity of its losses. The experts are giving more attention to the issue of earthquake in recent times. They are alarmed by the recurrence of quakes during recent years. They have opined that the recurrence of quakes in recent years should be taken as a signal for a major earthquake. The construction of ninety percent of the structures in the capital does not follow the building code. It is feared that millions of people will die if a major earthquake occurs in the big cities. However, we should take some precautionary steps to minimize the losses. We should build our houses following the earthquake resistant building code. The government should make the people aware of the losses of a major earthquake. Various NGOs and media can play important role to make people aware of the threat of earthquake. Thus we can minimize the losses of a major earthquake to a great extent.

International Mother Language Day/ 21st February
The 21st February is known as the Shaheed Day as well as the International Mother Language Day. It is a glorious day in our national life. The day has a long history. The then Pakistani rulers tried to impose Urdu instead of Bangla as the state language of us. But the heroic sons of our country protested against that rule. Salam, Rafiq, Jabbar and many patriots sacrificed their valuable lives to uphold the prestige of our mother tongue. On 21st February, people wake up early. They wear black badges on their clothes as a symbol of mourning. People go to the Shaheed Minar on bare foot singing the chorus, “Amar Bhair Rakta Rangano Ekushey February, Ami Ki Bhulite Pari.” They offer wreaths of flower to show their respect to the martyrs of the language movement. People remain silent for one or two minutes and pray for the martyrs. Special prayer is also offered in the mosques and temples of the country. Now the day is observed as International Mother Language Day across the world.

The environment refers to the air, water and land in which people, animals and plants live. So human beings, animals, plants, air water and soil are the main elements of the environment. Our environment is polluted in many ways. Man makes fire and fire creates smoke. Mills and factories also emit a lot of smoke. Smoke is also created from vehicles. All types of smoke pollute air. Water is also polluted in different ways. Farmers use chemicals in their fields. These chemical are washed away by rain water and get mixed into rivers and canals. The industries throw waste products into rivers and canals. Thus our water is polluted. Sound is also polluted by vehicle horns and microphones. To solve this problem, public awareness is a must. Everyone should work together to get rid of the threat of environment pollution.

Young people smoke to look smart. They take it as a fashion. One becomes addicted to smoking by mixing with bad companions and friends. Many smoke cigarette out of curiosity. My First Day at College
My first day at college is a memorable day in my life. I can still remember the sweet events of this day. I got ready early in the morning. I went to college at 9.00am. When I entered the college campus on that day, my joys knew no bounds. I met some of my friends on the campus. They received me with smiling faces. They became very intimate with me. I went to the notice board and wrote down our class routine. When the bell rang, we entered into a spacious room. Then a gentleman entered into the room. He was the professor of English. He treated us as friends and made us laugh with his remark. We enjoyed his class very much. Then I attended four classes, one after another. I noticed difference between our school and college. They generally do not ask any question. Their friendly treatment and the vast campus of the college impressed me most. When I remember the sweet memory of that day my mind is filled with joy.
